Over the past five years, the faculty members have directed or participated in more than 50 research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels or above, including 10 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Sciences Fund, publishing more than 300 academic papers and over 20 academic works and textbooks. They have also completed more than 50 tourism planning and scheming and cultural development planning projects, all of which are entrusted by the local governments or by scenic spots. The total funding has exceeded RMB 10 million.
In 2011, the school was recognized by the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government as Sichuan’s Advanced Unit Supporting Tourism Development during the 11th Five-Year Plan Period. In 2013, the school was designated as the Demonstrative Training Unit of Backbone Tour Guides for the West China Tourism Talent Training Base, as well as the Demonstrative Training Unit of Tourism Talents in Minority Areas.
Objectives: in line with the demands of the modern tourism industry, this program aims to produce versatile talents with systematic knowledge in tourism management. These talents are to have humanistic quality, international visions, innovative awareness, entrepreneurial spirit, practical abilities, and a sense of social responsibility, and are expected to hold operation, management, planning, consultation, and service positions in tourism enterprises, public institutions, and educational and research organizations.
Main courses: Introduction to Tourism, Economics of Tourism, Tourism Planning and Development, Tourism Marketing, Tourism Psychology, Introduction to Hotel Management, Travel Agency Management, Financial Management in Tourism, Modern Service Industry Management, Business English for Tourism, etc.
Length of schooling & degree: qualified graduates will receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Management after completing four years of schooling.
