The School of Architecture and Urban Planning （SAUP）covers a comparatively full range of specialties. It is one of the earliest architectural departments in institutions of higher learning under the direct administration of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the PRC. Currently, SAUP has more than 1,100 full-time undergraduates and over 30 postgraduates (including academic and application-based studies).
SAUP has 65 faculty members, of whom 18 hold senior academic titles such as professors, senior artists, class-1 registered architects, or registered urban planners. In addition, more than 20 famous architectural planning experts and artists are employed to serve as visiting professors at SAUP.
SAUP has established an architectural physics laboratory, a modeling laboratory, a digital CAD laboratory, a photographic laboratory, a measurement laboratory, a drawing office, a construction technique and material laboratory for environmental art design, landscape structures for landscape design, and a plan development laboratory. In addition, it has set up 15 permanent off-campus sites for field trip and organized 12 elite design teams. It has cooperatively linked to more than 20 relatively flexible off-campus civil engineering practice sites and artistic practice sites.
SAUP boasts a well-structured faculty team with experienced and dynamic teachers. The faculty members are competent in architectural planning, artistic design and its application. Among them, some are senior designers who have won a number of prizes in architectural planning and design at professional design contests above the provincial level, and some are famous experts working at academic institutes and review organizations. Their rich teaching experience has contributed to many great achievements in architectural design and textbook publication. The faculty members have won a number of awards at the municipal and provincial levels.
