In recent years, SCST has been proactive in cooperation and exchanges with other organizations. It collaborates with the School of Information Science & Engineering of Hunan University on the Software Engineering Undergraduate Program, offering two-stage training in the two universities respectively. The school has signed an agreement on student and academic exchanges with the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics of the University of Munich in Germany, whereby foreign experts are invited to deliver lectures at SCST and excellent junior students may be selected to study in Germany.
Currently, SCST has 102 faculty members, including 13 professors, 28 associate professors, and 47 of the faculty members hold or are studying for doctoral degrees. Among the faculty members, four are reserve candidates for Academic and Technical Research Leaders in Sichuan Province, and 14 have the experience of studying abroad. In addition, four of the faculty members are conducting post-doctoral research at home or abroad. In the past five years, the faculty has undertaken seven national scientific research projects, and 19 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, with more than 400 papers published in domestic and foreign journals, including Science China (English Version), Chinese Journal of Computers, Chinese Journal of Electronics, Acta Mathematica Sinica, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, and Computer Communications. Furthermore, the faculty members have published over 40 textbooks and monographs. SCST has one invention patent, two copyrights of software, and several utility model patents.
SCST has four laboratories and one institute for computer application technology, with a total area of 6,600 m2 and over RMB 23 million worth of equipment. In addition, it has established 12 off-campus practice bases by cooperating with IT companies. The school pays special attention to fostering students’ expertise and their abilities of innovative undertaking by organizing students to participate in various contests, including ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, and other contests at the national and provincial levels. Over the past five years, the undergraduates of the school have won 10 silver prizes and eight bronze prizes in the Asian Division of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. The students of the school have also won three first prizes and three second prizes at China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest; and one SIAM prize, one grand prize, four first prizes, and 24 second prizes at the Mathematical Contest in Modeling ICM.
